In Murfreesboro, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Tennessee, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

We needed quite a few plants last year and got them all from Carter Farm. The owner helped us choose plants that worked for our yard. He was very knowledgeable and patient while we staged the plants in his driveway, lol. The hydrangeas and hostas suffered last summer and through the cold winter and I thought they died but they came back beautifully. So happy with the service and the results!

I needed to replace some plants in the yard that were in the wrong place due to getting too much sun. The owners were professional and knowledgeable about their craft. Jonathan helped answer all my questions, and pointed me in the right direction on the best plants for the space. Everything looks great in the ground, and we couldn't be happier with the recommendations. I would highly recommend Carter Farm Nursery for all you plant needs.

Last fall Jonathan planted a memorial tree for us in our side yard. He was friendly, professional and helpful. The magnolia tree has wintered well, and is healthy. His price was very fair, and I will most definitely buy from Carter Farm Nursery again!
